SMITH: Ellen Louisa Smith age 90, of Carberry, Manitoba peacefully passed away on April 6, 2011 at the Carberry Health Centre. Ellen was born August 30, 1920 in Camherwell, England and came to Canada with her mother at age 2. She lived all her life in Carberry and married Roy Smith July 8, 1950. Ellen worked at many places in the town of Carberry including the Post Office, The Carberry News-Express, and lastly the Pharmacy which she retired from. Ellen was very much involved in the Anglican church. She always had a smile and hello for everyone she met, always caring about everyone and always so nicely dressed and made up. She was a real lady. If she knew you had a birthday, wedding, death or whatever you would get a card from Ellen. She also very much loved the town of Carberry and very generously gave alot of donations. Ellen was predeceased by her husband Roy Smith, July 1998; by her father William and her mother Ellen Louisa Golding; and longtime friend Jack Lupton, April 14, 2010. She is survived by one cousin, Lois Chandler of Winnipeg, and friend Bernice Lupton of Carberry; Roy's family - Verna Fallis of Brandon, Helen (Al) Lauder of Brandon; Doris (John) Clemens of Souris; Phyliss Kendal of Santa Barbara, California; and Harold (Marg) Smith of Vanderhoof, B.C. Funeral service was held at St. Agnes Anglican Church on April 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Shane Bengry officiating. Inurnment is at Carberry Plains Cemetery. White's Funeral Home was in care of the arrangements.Ellen, you hold a special place in our hearts.
