HAMES: Larry Gordon Hames 1951 2011. On Thursday, April 21, 2011 Mr. Larry Hames passed away at the Swan Valley Health Centre in Swan River, Manitoba at the age of 60 years. Larry Gordon Hames was born in Brandon, MB on March 29, 1951 to Gordon and Phyllis. His childhood years were spent in Kenton, ManitobaAfter graduating from high school in Hamiota, Manitoba. Larry continued his education at Red River Community College where he graduated with a degree in Business. Shortly after, Larry began his career with the TD Bank. His career took him to various places over the last 38 years, including Carmen, MB, Marathon, Ontario, and finally to Swan River where he spent the last 22 years. During his early career he was also starting a family with his first wife Elaine (McConnell); they raised three children, Melanie, Claire and Michael. Larry was very proud of his children and the success they found in their own lives. Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and gardening. He loved to be outdoors in the company of his four dogs, Sadie, Eddy, Frodo, and Zeus. He spent many hours in his boat and looked forward to his annual fishing trips with the boys. Larry volunteered for numerous local organizations and was willing to help wherever it was needed. Those close to Larry knew the depth of his heart and generosity. His actions were unselfish; he just did, never expecting anything in return. Larry leaves many laughter filled memories for the many, many people he touched in his life. He never lost his sense of humour. Larry was predeceased by his father Gordon, mother Phyllis, half- brother Keith, and Sister Wendy. Left to mourn his much too early passing are his loving fiancée Valerie Sinclair, daughter Melanie (Dave) Lane, daughter Claire (Steve) Gould, and son Michael (Sasha Brown) Hames, grand-daughter Brett, and three grandsons Lukas, Jacob and Logan. He also leaves behind numerous aunts and uncles and his two nieces, and one nephew and their families.In the huge mysteries of time and space I feel your love surround me and I am not afraid.Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Larrys life will take place at a later date which will be announced at that time. Should friends so desire, donations in Larrys memory may be made to the CancerCare Foundation of Manitoba or to the Swan Valley Animal Protection League.
