BICKNELL: Noreen Anne Bicknell, died April 26, 2011 at Fairview Personal Care Home. Prayers will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 327– 4th Street, on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Dominic Yuen as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Noreen was born to Ozzie and Madge Bicknell in Bruno, Saskatchewan on April 5, 19_ _. To her family she will always be 19 and half years old. She moved to Brandon with her family at a young age. With the exception of summer jobs at Banff Springs Hotel, she lived, attended St. Mike’s Academy and worked in Brandon all her life. She is survived by her daughter Cathie Ounsted of Victoria B.C. and her sister Iris Souliere; brothers Ken (Vivianne), Terry (Judy), Ted (Mary Ann) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marquerite, Madeleine and Joan James. Noreen had a varied working career, beginning during her high school years at the Oak Theatre. Full time employment began at Brown’s Drugstore. She became manager of Sally Shops when they located on Rosser Avenue., later moving to the Shopper’s Mall with the store. In 1975, she and her sister-in-law Vivianne purchased the Specialty Shop, a fashionable ladies dress shop. She was a member of the Quota Club and the Catholic Women’s League, but she will best be remembered as Brown Owl to many Brownies. Noreen was much loved by all her nieces and nephews. Her devotion to them and to all her family members was unfailing. She enjoyed a lifetime of friendship with former school mates, skating and dancing partners and the many people she met through her cliental. The family wishes to thank Dr. Egan and the staff of Fairview Personal Care Home for the loving, tender care that they gave to Noreen.
