DOOLE: David George Doole, known as George, passed away peacefully at the Valley View Care Home on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. George was born on April 5, 1922 to parents Robert and Elizabeth Doole at the home farm in Two Creeks, Manitoba George married Dorothy Hamilton, and together they had one son, Barry and two daughters, Tannis and Rhonda, four grandchildren; Kent, Sheldon, Joshua and Danielle and one great-granddaughter, Kazmira. George was predeceased by Tannis at the young age of six years. After 32 years, George and Dorothy divorced and two years later he married Jean Jennings. This gave him more children, Leslie (Ken) and Tom (Debbie), and grandchildren, Alissa, Braden, Cherie (Rob), Alana (Mike) and great grandchildren, Lucas and Laurel. George grew up in a typical farming area, where family and community were an important part of life. He was a councillor in Ward 5 of the R.M. of Wallace from 1974–1981 and like everything he did, this was a job he took great pride in. While farming, George spent many hours preparing equipment, tagging cattle, riding horses and always had a dog tagging along beside him. As well as doing these things he also loved to share them as well. It gave him great pride when one of his kids or grandkids accomplished something he was teaching them, be it farming, curling, shooting or just learning to drive. George loved to travel and together with Jean they had many wonderful adventures. Their first was to Hawaii and after that came Arizona, Texas, California as well as a tropical holiday to Jamaica. The top ranking trip though was when they fulfilled one of George’s biggest dreams and travelled to Ireland. This was his parent’s homeland, as well as where his father was buried and George was able to visit his dad’s gravesite for the first time. George is survived by wife Jean, son Barry and daughter Rhonda, grandchildren Kent, Sheldon, Joshua and Danielle and great granddaughter, Kazmira and many extended family. He was predeceased by parents Robert and Elizabeth, daughter Tannis; brothers Bob, Bill, Jim and sister, Molly. A service to celebrate George’s life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Jamie Berry officiating. Placement of urn will follow at Brandon Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of George may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 1K2 or Valleyview Care Centre Foundation 3015 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B-2K2.
