WISMER: Isabel Wismer ( Moffat) passed peacefully at Dinsdale Personal Care Home with family at her side on May 2, 2011. Isabel was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Wilfred (Bill) and her son William (Billy). Isabel was born in Strathaven, Scotland, Nov. 19,1921 to Richard and Jeanie Moffat. She was the youngest of 10 children, married Bill in Scotland while he served in WW11 in Canadian Armed Forces. Russell was born in Scotland and traveled by ship with Isabel to Brandon in July 1945. Isabel is survived by her children, Russell (Brenda), June Charbonneau (Bob), Norman, Glenn (Irene), Linda Gordon (Rick), Jeannie MacLean (Dwight), sister, Margaret Syme in Scotland, 26 grandchildren and 23 great -grandchildren. Isabel's first job was as a conductress on the buses in England. Between raising her own children, she was a caregiver to many children through Social Services. She also babysat for Dr. Kandambi and Dr. Knowle-Smith. Isabel worked at the Brandon General Hospital and Dinsdale, Eventide Home as a cook, when Bill had the boarding stables, she would help out by watering, horses. She was a long time member of the war Brides Association Isabel great loves were her family, dogs, bingo and yard sales. Services at Salvation Army on Friday May 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with lunch to follow.
