STRAHL: The death of E. Russell Strahl beloved husband of Marion and dear father of Barry, Warren, Verne and Kerry, occurred on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Russ was born August 23, 1928 at Minnedosa. He attended school at Havelock and then high school in Minnedosa. Russ was an automotive parts manager at Canadian Motors until his retirement. Russ was a Rotarian for many years. He coached pony league ball, belonged to the Archery Club, Wildlife Association and was a trapshooter with the Brandon Gun Club. He was also Manitoba Hunter Safety and Fire Arms Instructor for the Air Cadets. Russ was the director for the Brandon Barbershoppers and Barbershop Belles for many years. Russ and Marion enjoyed many years camping and travelling with the Good Sam Club. Russ is survived by wife Marion, sons Barry, Warren, Verne and daughter Kerry; grandchildren Rudi, Andrew, Charleen, Kristopher, Justin and Tori; great-grandchildren Burgandy, Arizona, Hudson, Austin and Sydney. Also surviving is brother Garnet (Marja) and his sisters Joan (Ken), Margaret (Gerry) as well as many nieces and nephews. Russ was predeceased by his parents and sister Catherine. The Ceremony to Celebrate Russ's Life was held at Central United Church on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiated. A private interment was held at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Urn Bearer was son Barry. All who attended were honorary Pallbearers. Flowers are gratefully declined.
