SYKES: Kathleen Morey Sykes (nee Normore) occurred in Brandon at the age of 92. She is survived by her son Christopher of Calgary and several nieces and nephews. Kay received her education in Newfoundland until she went to England to take her Nurses training. Following graduation and several years of post graduate studies Kay moved to Brandon in 1957. In her years in Brandon Kay was active in community affairs, serving on the board of directors for the YMCA, Hospital Auxiliary and the Brandon Flying club. Kay also earned her private pilot’s wings from the Brandon Flying Club. Kay was also National President of the 99s. She was also an active member of St. Mathews Cathedral serving on Alter Guild and Mardi Club for many years. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011 at St Matthew's Cathedral, 403- 13th Street, Brandon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Manitoba Lung Association, # 8-940 Princess Ave., Brandon R7A 0P6 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 415 - 1st Street, Brandon R7A 2W8 would be appreciated.
