MAHER: The death of Lena Maher, of the Rounthwaite district, occurred at her home on May 24, 2011. Lena was born in the Rural Municipality of South Cypress on October 3, 1923. She married Earl Maher on October 18, 1958, and lived on the farm all her life. She was a member of the Treesbank New Horizons and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She is survived by her son Colin and several nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband Earl, parents Norman and Mabel Wilkie, sister and brother-in -law Ethel and Scotty Gaffney, brother George (Sonny) Wilkie, niece Beth Anderson, nephews Alan Gaffney and Ken Laluk. The Funeral Service will be held at the Brandon Hills United Church on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Carolyn Rushton will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lena may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Office B, 727 10th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4G7.Expressions of sympathy may be made atwww.memorieschapel.com.
