WILLIAMSON: Surrounded by loving family, Bette Williamson passed away June 5, 2011 in the Brandon Palliative Care Unit. Bette was born November, 8, 1925 in McAuley, Manitoba to Robert and Agnes Shopland. She grew up on the family farm near Rocanville, Saskatchewan. In 1947, Bette met and married Kenneth Williamson. Bette and Ken spent their working years in Brandon, Manitoba. Bette was a devoted wife and a loving, full time mother to her three children Brian, Marlene, and Kennie. After the children were grown, she assisted Ken managing Hillside Townhouses in Brandon. In 1997, upon retirement, Bette and Ken moved to Chimo Resort in Rivers, Manitoba where she enjoyed many local activities. She particularly loved golfing and bowling. She was the Senior Ladies Champion at the Riverdale Golf and Country Club several times but her most treasured trophy was the one her husband made for her "hole-in-one." For many years she was an avid bowler in Brandon and Minnedosa. Her numerous bowling awards attest to her bowling abilities. Bette was an active member of the Rivers Fifty Plus Club where she was famous for her home baking. She delighted in her six grandchildren and their various activities. She proudly displayed their photos, letters, and cards on the refrigerator doors. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Ken Williamson; son, Brian (Pat); daughter, Marlene (Ian McKay); son, Ken, also sixgrandchildren; Robbie (Gaby) Ferguson, Jimmie (Katya) Ferguson, Chuck (Andrea) Williamson, Jacob Williamson, Melissa Williamson (Lucien Lozio), and Evelyn Eichhorst. Bette was one of ten children and leaves to mourn Robert, Phil, and Jim Shopland, Helen Thompson, and Queenie Hodder. She was predeceased by Margaret Andre, Ina Hayden, and Joseph and Jack Shopland. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Visser and the compassionate and caring nursing staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre.
