DICKIE: Peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer Keith E. Dickie passed away June 3, 2011 He was born March 28, 1941 in Sudbury, Ontario to Thomas and Jean Dickie. Keith grew up in Parry Sound, Ontario, where his love of hockey began. At the age of 16, he came to Brandon. From 1959-1961 Keith played for the Brandon Wheat Kings Junior Hockey Club. He was lucky enough to live and work with his paternal Uncle Alvin and Aunt Marg. During this time he met Wilma Corkish and got married in September of 1961. After the wedding they moved to Quesnel, B.C. where Keith played Senior Hockey for the Quesnel Kangaroos. Their daughter, Darlene was born in Quesnel. In 1966 they returned to Brandon and Keith worked for McGavin's Bakery and then Sears which eventually saw the family transferred to Thompson, Manitoba and then to Weyburn, Saskatchewan. They returned to Brandon in 1974 and decided this was home. Keith worked as a parts man until he retired in 2001. Keith and Wilma loved to camp, travelling from coast to coast in Canada as well as making trips to the USA, visiting many points of interest, along the way. Keith and Wilma also took a trip to Europe in thelate 80's. He coached East End Hockey and Baseball as well as being a Cub Scout Leader. He has been a season ticket holder for the Wheat Kings for many years and enjoyed watching any age of hockey anywhere. Many cold winter days were spent at the hockey rink watching his son and grandsons play hockey.
