LELOND: Florence Gertrude (Wallace) beloved wife of the late Homer Lelond and mother of son Wallace (deceased 1992) and daughter Christine Medd of Killarney, Manitoba. Florence had five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Florence passed away at Bayside Personal Care Home in Killarney, Manitoba on July 8, 2011 at the age of 97. Florence was born on February 9, 1914 in the Blaris School District near Isabella, Manitoba. She was the youngest of four girls. Florence married Homer Lelond on October 22, 1936 and they settled on a farm in the Crandall District where they mixed farm for 34 years. Florence and Homer retired in 1970 and rented their farm land. They continued to live on the farm and travelled to Texas each winter until Homer passed away in 1980. At this time Florence sold the farm and moved to Brandon and then in 1999 she moved to Killarney. Florence continued annual trips to Texas for another 26 years. Florence enjoyed crafts, knitting, cards, dancing, music, curling and watching the Blue Jays baseball on TV. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s memory may be made to Bayside Personal Care Home, Killarney, Manitoba, ROK 1G0.
