McCALLUM: Yvonne (Bonnie) Norma passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011. Bonnie was born July 19, 1934 in Sidney, Manitoba to Stanley and Lena Head. She attended school in Sidney and later moved to Melita, Manitoba where she met Hugh McCallum. They were married in 1957 and were blessed with four children. Bonnie worked for Manitoba Telephone System as a switchboardoperator in Melita until 1976. She then moved to Brandon to further her education, attending Assiniboine Community College after which she was employed by Brandon General Hospital as a switchboard receptionist until her retirement in 1997. In 2007, Bonnie suffered a stroke and moved to Fairview Personal Care Home where she received wonderful care by the First Floor staff. We remember Mom as a fun loving, independent person with a greatsense of humour that stayed with her till the end. Mom enjoyed travelling, playing games, golfing, bowling, curling, cooking, sewing, knitting, music and watching baseball. Bonnie was a very caring person, always concerned about the welfare of family and friends and ready to lend a hand when needed. Bonnie was predeceased by her husband Hugh in 1982. She leaves to mourn her children Laurie (Phil) Symmans of Vernon, BC, Barb (George) Neudorf of Brandon, Doug of Brandon and Georgina (Tom Panelli) of Coquitlam, B.C.; grandchildren Gavin Symmans and Boyd Symmans of Vernon, BC, Carly (Andrew) Hofer and Kaitlin Neudorf of Brandon; sisters Doreen Stewart of Brandon and Maxine (Gordon) Weiler of Lethbridge, Alberta. Mom will be greatly missed, but we take comfort knowing she has gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour. The Funeral Service was held at Calvary Temple on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Pastor Gary Jennings officiated. Pallbearers were Gavin Symmans, Boyd Symmans, Devon McDougall, Brogan McDougall, Ryan Flannery and Wade Flannery. Interment was in the Sidney Cemetery.
