SITKO: Gertrude (Gertie). It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved wife. Gertrude passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on the 17th of July, 2011. Gertrude was born February 11, 1943 on the family farm at Newdale, Manitoba. Gertrude was the second daughter to Jack and Jean Dunn. Gertrude received her education at the Newdale Public School and senior years at Strathclair Public School. It was at this time when she enjoyed playing fastball with the Newdale team traveling to fastball league games and fastball tournaments. After she completed her schooling Gertrude worked for the Royal Bank in Newdale. On the 27th of October 1961 Gertrude married Gordon Sitko. Gordon was with the military. Gertrude and Gordon made homes in Rivers, Flin Flon, Winnipeg, West Germany and Calgary. On retirement Gordon and Gertrude made their home in Sprucewoods for 20 year and then moved to Brandon. While in Germany holiday time was spent traveling to places such as Italy, Spain, France, Holland, England and Scotland. Gertrude is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Gordon Sitko, sister Margaret (Gordon Froese) of McCreary, sisters-in-law Jean Matheson and Bernice (Stan Fediuk), both of B.C., Alda Sitko and Marie Sitko, both of Brandon, brother-in-law Patrick (Sandy) Sitko of B.C. as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Gertrude was predeceased by her mother and father Jean and Jack Dunn, nephews Mel Sitko and Allan Alexiuk, sister-in-law Leona Sitko, brothers-in-law Jack Sitko, Frank Sitko and Ed Sitko, father and mother-in-law John and Mary Sitko. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th St. North on Saturday, July 23, 2011 with Pastor Michael Sitko officiating. A private intermentwill take place in the Strathclair Cemetery at a later date.
