GUGIN: The family of Frederick Stanley (Stan) Gugin announce his passing July 20, 2011 at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home at the age of 87. Stan was born March 21, 1924 to Fred and Flora Gugin and grew up on the family farm in the Cameron district. He attended Cameron School and went on to the University of Manitoba where he obtained his BSA in 1946. For about four years Stan worked at the Agricultural Research Centers in Brandon and Melita before deciding to return to the family farm where he eventually took over the seed business. He moved to Minnedosa in 1977 and retired from farming in 1992. His many interests included growing gladiolus, photography, bird watching, traveling, golfing, tennis and cross country skiing. Some of his best memories were of the summers spent at his cottage at Clear Lake. Over the years he established a great number of lifelong friendships through the seed business, his travels and numerous clubs he belonged to. One of them being the Horticultural Society where he received an honorary lifelong membership. Stan was predeceased by his parents Fred and Flora Gugin, and sisters Doreen, Irene (Chipperfield) and Marge (Brett). He is survived by one brother Bob and sisters Evelyn Hillier, Jean Gugin (Wilf Gafka) and Joan (Hal) Marshal and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held July 25, 2011 at the Minnedosa Funeral Chapel with Elgin Hall officiating. Interment followed at the Minnedosa Cemetery. Pallbearers were Craig Gugin, Bill Campbell, Murray Abel, Gary Andreychuk, Ron Kingdon and Neil Cameron. Minnedosa Funeral Service was in care of arrangements.
