BACHEWICH: Rosie (Yaworski) passed away peacefully at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home on Monday, August 01, 2011 at the age of 95 years. Daughter of Katie and John Yaworski, Rosie was born November 30, 1915 in Wisla, Manitoba. She attended Flower School until Grade 6. Following this, she worked as a housekeeper and cook for various families in Winnipeg and around Sandy Lake. Mom met Dad at Dad’s Aunt and Uncle Shaparski’s. They married on October 20, 1940 in Sandy Lake and started their married life south of Sandy Lake where five children were born. In 1950 they moved to Elphinstone where three more children were born. In 1969 they moved back to Sandy Lake. Mom worked at Sandy Lake Locker Plant for several years before retiring. In 2008 mom moved to the Sandy Lake Nursing Home. In her youth mom had a love of music learning to play the fiddle, accordion and mandolin from her brothers. She developed an interest in sewing due to necessity and in later years she put her many interests to good use making beautiful doilies, quilts, and Easter Eggs. Mom was a devote church-goer and an active member with the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League at St. Mary’s Church in Elphinstone and Holy Ghost Church in Sandy Lake. She was also a member of Sandy Lake Drop in Centre. Mom was a loving caring person who placed family first. She was predeceased by her parents, Katie and John, husband John, sons Patrick and Morris, brothers Ed, Mike, Joe, Fred, sister Helen Caddell and son-in-law Steve. Left to mourn are her children: Frances Kuzmak, Ernest (Anne), Helen (Les) Lewandoski, Sonia (Blair) Hasiuk, Patricia (Don) Babiak, Ronald (Julie), nine grand-children: Roseann (Mike) Walsh, Mavis (Don) Flach, Susan (Victor) Yaceyko, Steven (Kim) Kuzmak, Kevin (Laurie) Bachewich, Tanya (Graeme) Duncan, Natasha Lewandoski, Clarissa (Jason) Vargo, Barret Babiak (Stephanie Neal), eleven great-grandchildren: Jenna and Sarah Walsh, Robert Flach, Jeffrey and Karina Yaceyko, Liam and Jackson Bachewich, Makenna and Ethan Duncan, Jakob and Kate Vargo, sisters- in-law: Rose Yaworski, Stella Andrusiak and Rose Bachewich along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sandy Lake Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church. Prayers will be said at the church, Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Sandy Lake Communities in Bloom, P.O.
