TEASDALE: Stanley Vernon Teasdale, February 20, 1930 - July 14, 2011. After a brief battle with cancer, and with Ruth and his girls surrounding him, Stan entered into rest at the Hamiota Health Centre on July 14th, 2011. Born Stanley Vernon, he was the youngest of the five children of Robert and Lydia (Wells) Teasdale of Kelloe. Stan attended school there until moving to Winnipeg to finish his schooling. On October 7, 1961, Stan married Ruth Russett of Birtle. They farmed at Isabella, and raised two daughters, Lesli and Laurie. Farming was Stan’s love in life and he was always very proud of his crops. Stan retired from farming, renting his land out for several years. Last October, after many years of raising kids, cattle, chickens, cats, dogs and an occasional beaver in the slough east of the yard, Stan reluctantly moved off the farm. The purchase of a new home in Miniota excited his children and grandchildren who were ecstatic to have him only blocks away. Eventually, after realizing their frequently visited house was on the grandkids route from school he admitted that town life wasn’t so bad! Stan loved sports. In younger years he played ball and hockey. He also enjoyed going with Charlie Nichol to Charlie’s boy’s hockey games. Curling and golf followed later in life. Camping and fishing became a family event when the girls got old enough. Years later, when the rinks got too cold and the rocks too heavy, Stan and Ruth became armchair curlers and began attending the Labatt Briars. The yearly excursions with Doug and Shirley Heise always resulted in many good times, and many new friends. A proud member of the Manitoba Pool Elevators, and a member of the Isabella Rink Committee, Stan could often be found flooding water for the skating ice or working in the booth at the sports days. He was quick with a smile and a joke and was often discovered to be the instigator of many practical jokes. His sense of humour has been inherited by each of his daughters and grand daughters and the sparkle of his eye is often mirrored in theirs. Stan will be sadly missed by many nephews, nieces, friends and neighbours. He loved a good visit and Lawn’s shop was one of his favourite places to do so. Many Saturday nights were spent around three tables in the Teasdale living room, all pushed together to accommodate the friends who were often invited to play cards late into the night. Stan is survived by Ruth, his wife of 49 years. Also his daughter Lesli, son in law Bill, grand daughter Molly and his daughter Laurie, son in law Raymond and grand daughters Ashley, Robyn, Nicole and Riley. No one’s smile was ever as bright as his was on the day each of his grand daughters was born. Interment and Celebration of Life took place Monday, July 18th, 2011. In lieu of flowers the family wish that donations be made to the Miniota Fire Department or the charity of your choice. Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota were in care of arrangements. Rest in PeaceWe will love you until the day after forever.
