MAN: Ethel Eileen Man, who embraced life and family, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2011, at the Portage & District General Hospital. Ethel was born August 10, 1922, to Walter and Bertha (Henry) Shearer. Ethel’s older sister, Mary Bruce, lives in the Odd Fellow’s Towers. Her younger sister Ruth Willer, of Sarnia, Ontario is deceased. Ethel and her husband Bob Man, now deceased, enjoyed playing cars and travelling. Enroute to visits with family and friends, Bob and Ethel often included a visit to a dam. These dams became a trademark of their road trips. Ethel’s daughter Susan Simpson, her granddaughter Damian and great-granddaughter Ruby Coates hold G.G.’s memory in their hearts. Ethel valued work and the many friends it brought her. She enjoyed her career as a sales clerk and makeup representative with Hill’s West Drug Store in Portage and Clements Drug Store and Shopper’s Drug Store in Brandon. Ethel’s generous gifts of makeup for her granddaughter Damian and great nieces Danielle, Cheryl and Joanna fast tracked her into their hearts. Ethel was a very sociable and fun loving person. Her evenings with friends at the Odd Fellows Towers were very special times. Her friends still delight in remembering Ethel’s witty comments. Ethel’s enthusiasm for crib games at the Herman Prior and Cozy Corner was infectious. Sheand her daughter Susan, played crib regularly during their visits. Auntie Ethel has touched the hearts, not only of nieces and nephews, but also of the great-nieces and great-nephews of her two sisters. Ruth and John Willer (both deceased) of Sarnia, Ontario had five children, Kevin, Karen, Doreen, Barbara (deceased) and Kevin (deceased). Letters and visits kept everyone connected.
