McLEAN: The death of Edith Jessie McLean, widow of Gerald, mother of Don and Lawrie occurred in Brandon on Monday, September 26, 2011. Edith Jessie McLean was born at home on December 3, 1910. She attended Lily School and took music lessons at Brandon College. She married Gerald McLean in 1936 and they farmed in the Regent and Fairfax districts. While in Fairfax area she was organist for the United Church and helped in all community organizations. Edith and Gerald moved to Brandon in 1963. After Gerald's death, Edith worked at Beltone Hearing Centre and Western Medical Clinic. For many years she played the piano at the Assiniboine Centre. Rideau Park Personal Care Home became her residence in 2003. Edith was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, parents Jessie and Thomas Jones, brothers and sister-in-laws Wes and Laura and George and Della, her sister and husband Viola and Bill Groves and daughter-in-law Gwen. She is survived by her sons Don (Ruth) and Lawrie. A private graveside service was held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Memorial Service was held at Memories Chapel on Friday, September 30, 2011. Rev. Shannon McCarthy officiated. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Edith to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 4B - 457 9th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 1K2 or a charity of choice.
