STEWART: The death of William "Bill" Alexander Stewart occurred in Rivers on Friday, September 23, 2011. Bill was born at Pipestone, Manitoba on January 8, 1961. He attended elementary and middle school in Pipestone and high school in Reston. As a child, Bill enjoyed playing a variety of sports including hockey, football and baseball. Bill was employed over the years as a bartender, a mechanic, a seed grader at the seed plant in Rivers and for Springland Manufacturing. Bill spent his spare time in the outdoors, which he loved since he was a child, going camping, fishing, gopher hunting and attending auto races. He has been awarded numerous master angler awards. Known by many as "Stewie", Bill liked to socialize and catch up with family and friends. He enjoyed helping people and liked to give back to his community by volunteering with the Rivers Fire Department, the Rivers EMS and he served as a Councilor for the Town of Rivers for eight years. Bill was predeceased by his uncle John Henderson of Oak Lake, aunt Margaret of Elkhorn, MB, father-in-law Abe Wiebe of Rivers and sister-in-law Sherry Oakey of Neepawa. Bill is survived by his wife Sallyann; son Alexander; parents Jessie and Charlie Stewart of Pipestone; brothers Tom and Brian of Pipestone; mother- in-law Sarah Wiebe of Rivers; sisters-in-law Sandra (Glen) Thomson, Susie Dubois, Abby Murray; brother-in-law Richard (Diane) Wiebe as well as numerous nephews and nieces. The funeral service will be held at the Rivers United Church on Saturday, October 1, 2011 (today) at 11:00 am. Rev. Glenna Beauchamp will officiate. Urn Bearers will be Alexander Stewart and Tom Stewart. Honourary bearers are members of the Rivers and Daly Fire Department and Rivers E.M.S. Interment will follow at the Rivers Cemetery. If friends desire, donations may be made to a Trust Fund for Stewie's son Alexander through the Westoba Credit Union, Rivers Branch, 504-2nd Avenue, P. O. Box 298 Rivers, Manitoba, R0K 1X0.
