WILKIE: William Donald Wilkie was born on his parents’ farm near Grandview, Manitoba on March 27, 1927. The family moved to Brandon in 1936. After he completed grade 12, Don worked for the Power Commission (Hydro) and later as a chartered accountant. He moved to Winnipeg where he continued to work as an accountant. When the company opened an office in Calgary, Don was asked to go there. Don and his wife, Leita, had a daughter, Judy Lynn, and a son, Gary Donald. Eventually Don became a real estate agent - a job he kept until his retirement. Don was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Angus Wilkie, his brother, Les, and his wife, Leita. Don passed away on September 1, 2011 in hospital in Calgary. He is survived by his children, Judy and Gary, and his grandchildren, Carley and Nathan Robertson and Jason and Ryan Wilkie, and his sister Margaret. Don’s ashes will be buried in Rosewood Memorial Gardens on November 10, 2011. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Don, may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of their choice.
