TAYLOR (HOFFMAN): It is with great sadness that the family of Audrey Phyllis Taylor (Hoffman) announces her passing on November 14, 2011 at the Assiniboine Center in Brandon, MB. Predeceased by her parents, Emil and Edna Hoffman, she leaves to mourn her husband (of 52 years) Kelly, daughter Shelley (Ray) Drysdale of Brookdale, MB, son Robin (Ida) of Norway, son Joe (Venesa) of Calgary, AB, son Michael (Wendy) of Oak Lake, MB, and grandchildren Jocelyn, Teryl, Eirik, Tomas, Jillian, William, Alex, Georgia, Sara, and Amie. Also cherishing Audrey's memory are sisters Geri (Max) Colter of Regina, SK, Shirley Hamilton of Winnipeg, MB, Kim (John) Kelly of Winnipeg, MB, and Sandra Tait of Grande Prairie, AB; sister-in-law Corinne (Jack) Manson of Winnipeg, MB, brother-in-law Ted (Sharon) Taylor of Oak Lake, MB, along with many nieces and nephews. Audrey was born in Medicine Hat, AB on April 19, 1941. She began school at the age of six in a one-room school house in Blackfoot, AB. Her family moved and relocated many times within Alberta and Saskatchewan during her childhood years. Their final move found them in Virden, MB, where she completed high school in 1958, and obtained employment at Martin's Pharmacy. This would be where she met her lifetime partner, Kelly. Their relation grew as they enjoyed school dances, social functions, and most of all, sharing their passion for playing baseball and curling. On October 20, 1959, Audrey and Kelly were married in Virden, MB. They moved to the Taylor family farm in the beautiful Assiniboine Valley, where they raised their four children. Audrey was a wonderful cook and homemaker, and took great pride in her loving family. Audrey was an active member of the Oak Lake United Church, where she sang in the choir and helped with the United Church Women's group. Being very community minded, she volunteered her time on many boards, including Oak Lake Town Council, Economic Development Board, and the Oak Lake and Area Foundation Board. Time was also spent as a 4-H leader, garden club, figure skating club, and many years as typist and assembling of the Oak Lake Town and Country Newspaper. Her love of sports allowed her to cheer loudly in rinks and ball diamonds all across Manitoba. One of her most impressive talents was her artistic ability, both with crafts and painting. A highlight for her was owning her "Where It's At" craft shop in Oak Lake from 1996 to 2010. She felt joy from being able to teach both young and old, the finer points of painting ceramics. Her greatest achievement was being a magnificent wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, to all that knew and loved her. The Funeral Service will be held at the Oak Lake Community Hall on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Craig Miller and Reverend Harvey Hurren officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of cards and flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for cancer services at the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3 in memory of Audrey.E-mail messages of condolence or sign the on-lineBook of Condolences atcarscaddenfuneralchapel.comG.R.
