PHILLIPS: Randall Wayne Phillips. Randy passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, November 25, 2011 at age 61, after a courageous fight with lung cancer. Randy faced his disease with determination and a quiet dignity, never complaining. Randy was born at Pipestone, Manitoba on March 25, 1950, the middle son of Sid and Joan Phillips. Randy grew up on the family farm in the Findlay area. He attended school from grades 1 to 9 at Maple Lake School and then Hartney Collegiate. Randy married Elaine Kohut on September 14, 1984 and from this union one daughter, Karen was born. Randy is survived by his wife Elaine and daughter Karen and her boyfriend Stacee Trout. Randy is also survived by his mother Joan; brother Terry (Mavis) and nephews Mark, Scott and Chris; brother-in-law Ken (Mailodys) and step-daughter Melissa; brother-in-law Tim (Joan) and nephew Evan; sister-in-law Shannon and children Joshua and Jessica. Randy was predeceased by his father Sid, brother Wade, father-in-law Harry, mother-in-law Joan and brother-in-law Glen. Randy enjoyed curling, fastball, fishing and visiting with friends and relatives. He enjoyed the company of his relatives Elaine and Dennis Berkowski, especially his fishing trips with Dennis. Randy truly loved cattle farming - especially seeing the new life in the spring when the calves were born. On the morning of his passing he fed the cattle - a farmer right to the end, doing what he truly loved. Memorial services were held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Pauls United Church in Souris, Manitoba with Reverend Mark Murray officiating. Urn bearer was nephew Scott Phillips. A time of fellowship followed in the Souris Legion. If friends so desire, they may donate to CancerCare Manitoba or the Souris Hospital Palliative Care Fund or to a charity of your choice in Randys memory.
