GUDZ: It is with great sadness that the family of Sophie Gudz announces her passing on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at her residence. Sophie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Garry Gudz and Janice (Brad) Langston. Grandchildren: Kevin (Lyzz) Gudz, Kori (Darryl) Oliver, Rob (Cherie) Langston, Steve Langston. She was blessed to have known and loved four wonderful great-grandsons; Bryce Gudz, Conner and Chase Oliver and Lucas Langston. Sophie is also survived by her sister Bernice Badowich (Mike Andronick), brother and sister-in-law Bernie and Mary Wielgosh, brother -in-law Frank Gudz and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Herb her loving husband in 2006 after 53 years of marriage. Sophie was born on November 30, 1931 in Brandon Manitoba to Nellie and Joseph Sliwa. Throughout her life, Sophie was employed with the Kresge Company where she remained until her retirement. Sophie loved spending time at the Ditch Lake cottage, traveling, and playing cribbage at the Sokol Hall. She always enjoyed having family and friends around her and just last week we all celebrated her 80th birthday at a family dinner. This was a very special day for Sophie. Over the years numerous Christmas dinners have been enjoyed at her home and there was always too much food but we all did our best to finish off her great home cooked meals. Despite declining health Sophie remained social and active. She loved her computer and the entertainment and connection to people it provided. She will be sadly missed but remembered by loving and happy memories. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 10:30 am. Celebrant will be Fr. Dominic Yuen. A private service of interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. If friends wish, donations in Sophie's memory may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, for the Residence - Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Avenue East, R7A 2B3. Expressions of sympathy may be made atwww.memorieschapel.com.Arrangements are with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
