NICHOL: Iris B. Nichol. Iris Berthena passed away peacefully with her family at her side at Tri-Lake Health Centre on December 5, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Iris was born on a farm north of Killarney to Clifford & Aileen Bridges on December 25, 1931. Iris worked at Coleman Drug Store before marrying Russell Nichol on December 29, 1956. They then moved to Russells family farm. They raised one son, James and twin daughters, Shelley and Sherri. Iris and Russell continued to reside on the farm until moving into Killarney in November of 1995. Iris enjoyed working on the farm, and hauling the grain in the fall. Iris also enjoyed being around the cattle. She enjoyed and loved being with her grandchildren. Mom enjoyed travelling especially her trip to Nashville with her husband, daughter and son-in-law. Iris will always be remembered by her excellent cooking, love of playing cards, dancing, going uptown for coffee with the ladies, watching her grandchildren play hockey and other sports. Mom will also be remembered by her sparkling eyes, wonderful smile and amazing strength. Iris was predeceased by her father Clifford and mother Aileen, sister Enid and Iriss husband Russell. She leaves to mourn her children son James (Colleen) of Killarney, daughters Shelley (Ken) McKay of Brandon and Sherri (Darcy) Fluker of Brandon. Grandchildren, Conner (Brooke), Brett (Brooklyn), Tanner and Shayna. Also her sisters Muriel Lyons of Portage, Shirley (Bob) Bachinski of Brandon, and brother-in-law Stewart Archibald of Killarney as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service was held at the Killarney United Church on Friday December 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Cole Grambo officiating. Pallbearers were: Conner Nichol, Brett Nichol, Tanner Fluker, Jim Cobbledick, Kim Kemp and Harvey Sorensen. Mom,you are going to be missed.
