SWITZER: Rose (Rosalia), nee Drozdowsky, entered into eternal rest on December 13, 2011 at the age of 102. In 2007, due to her mobility problems, she became a resident at Fairview Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba. She died peacefully at the Home with her best caregiver, daughter Fran at her side. Rose was born on August 19, 1909 to Theodore and Annie Drozdowsky in the Silver Creek Municipality of Manitoba. She grew up on the family farm where her other 15 siblings were also raised. Rose was the 11th child born into the family and lived to be the last remaining child. Rose married Cecil Switzer on October 28, 1933 and farmed in the Angusville district. In 1949 they purchased and operated Switzer’s General Store in Angusville. They had three children, Percy, Joy, and Fran. Cecil died on June 1, 1958. In the mid-1960’s, Rose lived with her daughter Fran, son-in-law Nelson, and their son Terry, in different towns in Manitoba where the family worked. When they began living in Brandon, Rose worked for different employers and also enjoyed working at home, cooking, sewing, gardening, etc. Rose loved children, church activities, and, especially, interacting with her large extended family. Rose leaves behind an adopted sister, sister-in-law, Francis, a daughter-in-law, Mary, son-in-law, Jack; also, many fond memories as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
