MacDEARMID: It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mavis Joyce MacDearmid. Mom passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Friday December 2nd, 2011 with her daughter by her side. Joyce was born in Carberry Manitoba on June 3rd, 1929, one of seven children born to William and Eva Udey of Carberry. She was raised on the family farm East of Carberry. In 1953, she married Glen MacDearmid and together they raised three children, Susan, Rob, and Roger. She had several hobbies including knitting, crocheting and her most passionate being quilting. She was an excellent baker and cook as well. She was a caring and loving Mom and her grandchildren always brought a smile to her face. Joyce was pre-deceased by her parents, brothers Stan and Ernie, and sister Grace. Mom is lovingly remembered and will always be missed by her daughter Susan Cameron (Larry), sons Rob (Margaret), and Roger (Jacquie), grandchildren Christine Hartung (Kelly), Jason and David Cameron, Robbie and Pam MacDearmid, Chris, Drayson, Blair, Kent and Miranda MacDearmid, as well as Great Grandchildren Mackenzie Cameron, and Matthew and Torrie Hartung. She will be sorely missed by her sisters Maureen Meyers, Doreen Boak and brother Irwin, all of Carberry. A celebration of Mom’s life was held on Tuesday December 6, 2011 at Carberry United Church with internment at Carberry Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Susan, Rob, and Roger and their families sincerely thank all our friends and relatives for all your support during this time. A special thanks to Mom’s sisters Maureen and Doreen for standing by us all during her illness. Thank you to Dr. Mollar, Betty and staff at Hillcrest Place, Rev. Peggy Reid from Carberry United Church and Brian James from White’s Funeral Home in Carberry. Thanks to Aunt Maureen and Doreen for the tasty supper.
