RAYMER: Opal Irene Raymer (nee Lounsbury) It is with deep sadness that Opal's family announces her passing at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the age of 91 years. Opal was predeceased by her husband, Howard, parents and her siblings. She is survived by her daughters; Elna (Neil) MacDonald, Carol (John) Grainger, and son Don (Ann) Raymer. Aswell, she is survived by her grandchildren Cheryl, Christine, Christopher, Jill and Katlyn; great-grandchildren Chris, Spencer and Opal; her great great-grandchildren Faith and Jaxon. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Opal was born in Treherne, MB on November 14, 1920 to Murray and Lillie Lounsbury. She was one of six children. When she was very young, the family moved to Brandon where she attended school and worked at various jobs. This is where she met Howard and they were wed in 1942. They soon started their family and Opal spent her children's early years molding their lives. She was very active in Church life at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church from the time she was four years of age. She and her family spent many joyful summers at their cottage at Clear Lake. She was athletic and enjoyed skating, curling and golfing. She was very social and treasured great times with her family and friends. Opal brought a ray of sunshine into everyone's day with her beautiful smile and caring nature. In her retirement years, Opal and Howard enjoyed traveling and wintering in Palm Springs. Opal enjoyed her final years in comfort at Riverheights Terrace. At this time, we her family would like to thank all her friends and caregivers. Although we will miss her forever she will be celebrated. The funeral service was held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church with Rev. Paul Sakasov officiating.
