WESTWOOD: 1927 2012 William Mackenzie Westwood passed away with his family at his side on January 12, 2012 in Minnedosa Hospital. Mack was born March 11, 1927. He attended school in Rapid City then farmed with his parents Bert and Ellen Westwood. He was in the Navy in 1946-47, seeing enough of the world for him returned to farming by purchasing north half of 1-14-20 in the R.M. of Saskatchewan formerly known as Beattie pasture. The next few years were spent breaking the sod, picking roots and stones. In October 1952 he and Ethel Ironside of Oakleigh district married and in 1958 built their home here and raised their family, grain farmed, raised cattle and chickens. Mack enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and in later years took up golfing on Rapid City Golf Course. He loved his five grandchildren and was delighted with the birth of his great grandson last year. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ethel and children Heather (Doug) Wells, Randy (Cathy) Westwood, and Linda (Cameron) Hales; Grandchildren: Bradley (Erin) Wells, David (Heather) Wells, Amanda Westwood, Mackenzie Hales and Spencer Hales and Great Grandson, Mason Wells; Sister, Jean Westwood of Calgary; brothers--in-law and sisters- in-laws and their families. Also, sadly missed by Katie Cat. A memorial tea was held in Rapid City on January 17, 2012. A family burial will take place at a later date.
