NEITZAN: Heather Neitzan (Nee Steel). With sadness we announce the passing of Heather Kay Neitzan of Lockport, MB, formerly of Winnipeg and of Cartwright, MB. Heather will be missed by her husband Carl, daughter Cora Neitzan (Gilles), grandchildren Jocelyn, Gregory, Alexandra, Nicholas; sisters Penny Macklem(Alan) and Sherry Blair. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Art & Myrtle Steel and brother-in- law Robert Blair. Born in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, England, Heather spent her childhood in Britain before immigration to Canada with her mother. She attended school in Saskatchewan, then Hazeldel, MB (near Holmfield, MB) and in Cartwright, MB. Heather spent one summer as a swimming instructor at Lester Beach and later worked at the Winnipeg General Hospital (Now the HSC), Eaton’s Accounting Dept. and worked as an accountant for several other businesses. Heather had a flair for fashion and also modeled clothes. In 1966 Heather and Carl were married and welcomed their baby daughter, Cora, born in 1970. Heather was an intelligent woman with a quick wit and would easily fall into a conversation with strangers. She had a lovely singing voice and has recorded a record. Heather took to farm life (Blow Weary Farm) enjoying her leisure time at the “old swimming hole”, skating, fishing, hunting and horseback riding. As a teenager she proudly raised and showed cattle with the Cartwright 4-H Club. She would cry her eyes out where her steers went to auction. Heather battled Type II Diabetes for 32 years, renal failure of 3 1/2 years, with the many complications of each, and one week ago suffered a major stroke. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. P. Komenda, Dr. S. Armstorng, Dr. O. Rigotto and the staff at the Seven Oaks Renal Health Program, and Dr. P. Bhanot, of Seven Oaks Hospital. A special thank you to nurse Jennifer for her warmth and compassion the night Heather died. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home.
