SMITH: Our Mom, Elna Ruby Rose Smith was born at the height of the dirty ‘30’s on June 3, 1933 on the family farm near Carroll, Manitoba and passed from this earthly home in Richmond, B.C. on a beautiful spring like day, February 6, 2012. Mom has gone to join our Dad, George Bremner Smith who passed in 1999, and they can now travel to all those far away and exotic places that she had dreamed of seeing. Mom is pre-deceased by her parents Charles and Clara Fowell, sister’s Ivy Barrett and Alice Melnyk and brother Bud Fowell. Mom is survived by her son Fred Smith, daughter-in-law Leona, daughter Karen Dawydiak, son-in-law Steve and her grandchildren Erin, Carly, Levi, Emily and Alec, and her great grandchildren Owen, Danica and Dominic, her sisters Amy Rollins and May Culbertson and her brother Ernie (Therese) Fowell, sister-in-laws Marg Fowell and Catherine (Ken) Rasmussen and lots of very special nieces and nephews. Mom worked all her life but her greatest joy came from helping out, whether it was with Little Friend’s Preschool, cooking hotdogs at Westwind Elementary School and or being Treasurer with the Richmond Ravens (RGIH), she enjoyed the connection with the community and watching her grandkids play hockey and ball. Thanks so much to an angel here on earth, Dr. Chee and the team at Richmond Hospital ER and 2 North for their comfort and care and to our many friends that continue along this road with us.
