MISANCHUK: Alexandra “Ella” Misanchuk (nee Lesiuk) February 26, 1925 – February 2, 2012. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of wife, mother and grandmother, Ella at Fairview. Ella was born in 1925 to Rose and Nicholas Lesiuk in the Ozerna area, as the youngest of five sisters and two brothers. The Lesiuk family moved to a farm in the Solsgirth area, which became the center of many family reunions through the years. At a community dance Ella met Edward and they married in 1949. They moved to Grandview, where Edward taught in a one-room schoolhouse at Spruce Bluff. The couple started a family with twin boys, Bruce and Bryan, followed by a baby girl, Gloria, about a year later. In the 1950’s they purchased a farm next to Edward’s parents in Sandy Lake. In 1957 the family welcomed a baby daughter, Cynthia. Ella kept busy caring for the family, gardening and looking after the farm animals. The farm was bordered by two lakes, where the family met campers that became lifelong friends, and where mom and children spent many fun afternoons on the sandy beach. The farm became a business which developed along the Sandy Lake lakeshore into a summer resort, Ed-Venture Bay Campgrounds. In the early 1960’s the Misanchuk family moved to Brandon, which became the family’s permanent residence. Sandy Lake remained the focus on weekends and during the summer holidays. In Brandon, Ella enjoyed working in the CSR (Brandon General Hospital) where she made friends, and with whom she shared many a laugh. Ella traveled later in life to: Gander, Montreal, Colorado, Hawaii and Europe, usually to visit children and grandchildren. Ella was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Rose Lesiuk, and her brothers and sisters, Jenny Clark, Leah Kohanik, Peter and Elmer Lesiuk, Sadie Kuriychuk and Mary Komhyr; and is survived by her husband Edward, and a sister, Olive Kohanik of Seattle; her children Bruce (Pamela) Misanchuk of Airdrie, AB, Bryan Misanchuk of Toronto, ON, Gloria (Francois) Carrard of Brandon, and Cynthia (Richard Hodgson) Misanchuk of Airdrie, AB; and six beloved grandchildren, Michael and Jonathan Misanchuk, Kara and Sigourney Burrell, Alexandra and Harrison Misanchuk Hodgson and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation may consider the Parkinson Society of Manitoba.God looked around his garden and found an empty space, He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest,God's garden must be beautiful He only takes the best.He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain,He knew the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to gain.So He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered "Peace be Thine",It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone,For part of us went with you the day God called you home.AnonymousPrayers were said on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Brandon, MB.
