STEVENSON: Rebecca Jane "Jean" Stevenson passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012 after a brave battle with cancer with family by her side. Jean was born December 8, 1938 in Portadown, Northern Ireland to parents George and Ruby Marsden. Jean was a devoted wife and mother, caring sister, and wonderful friend who had an abundance of love for all children. Jean spent her life working in her home as a child care provider and then worked out of the home at Children's Den day care centre until her retirement. Jean touched the lives of many children she cared for, showering them with her love. She wasa great mentor and friend to those she worked with. She volunteered her time between Fairview Home and her tireless work as a member of the UCW (Central United Church). Jean is survived by her husband Harry, daughters; Connie (Tim) Rey, Kim (Kevin) Shamanski and grandchildren; Nathan and Carli Rey, Madison and Piper Shamanski whom she loved very much. Jean loved spending time at Clear Lake with Harry and her children, sharing meals and card games with family and friends. She is predeceased by her mother Ruby, father George and sister Marie. The ceremony to celebrate Jean's life was held at Central United Church, on Monday, February 13, 2012. Rev. Laird Russell-Yearwood officiated. Private Family Interment was held in the Brandon Cemetery. The urn bearer was Nathan Rey (grandson). The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. N. Butler and staff at CancerCare MB and Brandon Regional Health Centre.
