HAMILTON: Thomas Alexander McKelvey (Kelvey) Hamilton was born June 22, 1925 in Fairview, Droit, Newtownstewart, Northern Ireland, to William Samuel and Anna Mary (McFarland) Hamilton. Family was by his side and very saddened by his passing on February 1st, 2012 at Fairview Nursing Home. He was predeceased by son Brian, son Raymond, grandson Gary, his parents and ten siblings. He is survived by his wife, Marie, son Gary, wife Shiela and grandson Christopher, son Robin, wife Shelley and grandchildren Jesse and Tia, Raymonds wife Stacey and grandchildren Dylan and Emily, his brother Ivan and sister Noelle. Kelvey joined the Irish Guard at the age of seventeen and served in Germany, Belgium, France and Holland. He joined the Royal Ulster Constabulary and was posted in a number of places in Northern Ireland. In 1951 he came to Canada and joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police. While a police officer he escorted many dignitaries, Queen Elizabeth, Field Marshall Montgomery of Burma, USA Vice President Hubert Humphries, Bob Hope, Johnny Cash, Jayne Mansfield, Janis Joplin, and the Beatles to name a few. In October 1957 he married Marie Jeffers from McAuley, Manitoba and lived in Toronto where they raised all four boys. In 1978 he retired from the Police Force and moved his family to Moosomin, Saskatchewan. He was actively involved driving a school bus, with the Legion and with the local hockey team. He was a Legion member and served for eight years as President. In 1996 he and Marie moved to Brandon where he spent time playing cards at the Legion and Sokol Hall. He enjoyed meeting many of his friend for coffee at the mall. On February 6th, 2012 at Memories Chapel there was a family viewing and a Celebration of Kelveys Life. Kelvey was cremated and interment will be at a later date.
