PICKARD: Mrs. Violet Pickard of Brandon, and formerly of Fertile, SK., passed away at the Fairview Home, Brandon, on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Garnet in 2003; parents James and Sara Bennett; brothers Max and Elwood Bennett; sister Isabel (Bill) Smith; sister-in-law Joyce Bennett; and numerous in-laws on the Pickard family side. Violet is survived by her two daughters: Donna (Barry) Davis of Reston and Debbie (Val) Rekken of Fertile, SK.; seven grandchildren: Vanessa (Scott) Bertholet (and their children Shana, Cody, and Jordon), Jerry (Josie) Davis (and their children Austin and Jennifer), Wesley Davis, Kristopher (Sara) Rekken, Hans Rekken (Christine Shoemaker) and their son Ethan, Erik Rekken and his daughter Ariana, and Ashley Rekken (Adam Gnauck) and their son Dylan; brother Colin Bennett of Gainsborough; brother-in-law Ted Gardiner of Melita; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Bennett of Carnduff, Helen Bennett of Carnduff, and Lil Nadeau of Melita. A service to celebrate Violet’s life will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the Knox United Church, Gainsborough, SK. with Reverend Rob Reed officiating. Interment will follow at the Gainsborough Cemetery. Donations may be given to the Gainsborough Cemetery Fund Box 120 Gainsborough, SK. S0C 0Z0.
