McMILLAN: William (Bill) Charles, born June 22, 1947 in Brandon, MB passed away peacefully on November 15, 2011 at Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 64. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years Sharon Anne McMillan and by his parents Bruce and Dorothy McMillan and Bill and Edna Smith (in-laws). Bill will be dearly missed by his children Lisa (Dennis) Hemrica, Charlie McMillan, and his two grandchildren Jaden and Brett Hemrica and his sister Valerie McMillan. Bill spent his childhood living in Carberry, MB. At the age of 16 he decided to broaden his horizon by heading for the west coast. However he never made it quite that far, instead settled in Strathmore, AB. He worked odd jobs here and there until he landed a job with Ducks Unlimited. He worked there for a few years until one day he got a call from his parents in Brandon, MB asking him to come and help with the family owned meat shop. So with that, another chapter in his life began. While living in Brandon, he met the love of his life, Sharon Anne Smith. Bill knew she was the one for him so after dating for awhile they were married on October 10, 1970. The newly weds lived in Brandon briefly; however the city life was not for them so they moved to a small farm outside of Brandon. With their love of animals and wildlife this was the perfect place to start their new life and their new family together. Not long after their daughter Lisa Janet arrived followed shortly by their son Charles Henry McMillan. A few years later, a business opportunity came up in Kenton, MB. Bill, who had always hoped to own his own meat shop, packed up his family and moved to Kenton. There he worked tirelessly day and night making some of the best products around. He also made many lifelong friends over the years through the shop. Bill had a great sense of humour and loved hearing a good joke and meeting new people. He was a long time (chartered) member of the Kenton Lions Club, Kenton Legion and the Kenton Fire Department. Although he lived a busy life he still made time for the things he loved to do like gardening, hunting, fishing, playing poker in the Legion, even having a drink and just enjoying life. Most of all he was a wonderful father and grandfather, loving husband and devoted friend to all that knew him. Bills generous nature throughout his life concluded with the donation and successful transplantation of both his corneas. Thank you Dad for everything, your memory will live on in all of us.
