CITULSKY: On March 21st, 2012 at the Minnedosa Health Center, William (Bill) Citulsky, beloved husband of the late Anne Citulsky, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. Dad was born May 26th, 1924 at Oakburn, Manitoba. He was the oldest of 6 children of Mike and Teenie Citulsky of Seech, Manitoba. He attended school at Seech and then Zaparoza however was pulled from school at the age of 13 to help out on the family farm. Dad worked a little at the Shoal Lake Creamery at which time he met Mom (Anne Nychuk) and in 1945 they were married .In 1948 they purchased land in the Pettapiece area near Rivers where they spent the majority of their life farming and raising their family. Dad and Mom moved off the farm in 1979 into their home in Rivers. Farming was Dads passion and even when he was retired would drive out daily to the farm to see if there was something he could do. He also worked for Manitoba Crop Insurance for a number of years. Family was very important to Dad. He and Mom were always busy with their own children and in later years took special interest in their grandchildrens activities. Seech was always home to Dad and when the opportunity came to have a camping site at Seech Lake, this was their summer home for many years This became a Citulsky family gathering place yearly when his brothers and sisters obtained camping sites as well .There were many informal and formal gatherings of the Citulsky and Matiowsky clan at Seech Lake. Dad came from a very musical family. He played the guitar and loved to sing traditional Ukrainian songs. You could always count on a campfire jam session when the 3 brothers got together. Besides family and music Dad enjoyed golfing and fishing. He and Mom traveled across Canada and to several places in the USA. Dad served on the Board of Directors of the Rivers Seed Plant, Rivers Hospital Board, and President of the Rivers Ukrainian Society for several years. The Church was very important to Dad .He and Mom are members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Ghost, Brandon .Dad served on the executive of the church for a number of years. Dad was predeceased his wife Anne, his parents Mike and Teenie Citulsky, sister Olga, brother Ernie, his parents-in-law Mike and Carrie Nychuk, brothers-in-law Steve, Melvin, Nick, Dick, Bill and Matt Nychuk and one sister-in-law Jean Walowetz. Dad leaves to mourn his 3 children, Ron (Susan) of Rivers, Evelyn (Eric) Neufeld of Minnedosa and Michael of Vancouver, BC. He has 5 grandchildren: Suzanne (Les) Sullivan, Steven (Erin) Neufeld, Curtis (Nicole) Citulsky, Andrew (Jennifer) Citulsky, and Evan Citulsky (friend Jolene Hodgins). He also has 5 great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ashley Sullivan, Haylee and Cameron Citulsky and Kate Neufeld. He is also survived by his brother Peter (Jean) Citulsky, sisters Jean (Steve) Manuliak, Anne (Wally) Kolench, Alice (Nestor) Zemliak and sister-in-laws Jean Citulsky, Kay Drul, Violet Nychuk and Mary Nychuk as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Saturday March 24th at Memories Funeral Chapel, Brandon at 11:00 a.m. with V. Rev. Fr. Michael Skrumeda officiating. Interment will follow at the Pettapiece Cemetery near Rivers at 3:00 p.m. Memorial donations maybe made to the Rivers Foundation or any Palliative Care Center.
