WOOD: Audrey Margaret Wood (nee: Barker). It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on March 27, 2012 at Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her family by her side. Remaining to forever cherish Mom’s memory are her daughters: Maureen (Charlie) Strawn, Donna (Wayne) Dixon, and sons Bryan (Anne), Allan (Rhonda), and Trevor. Grandchildren: Angie (Steve) & Joelle (Derrick), Ashley & Lindsey, Lori & Brent (Becky). Great-grandchildren: Chas & Lukas, Garrett & Emma, Hannah & Lucas. Sister: Mavis (Arthur) & family from England and the Woods’ family. Mom was predeceased by her parents Gladys & Henry Barker and her husband Harvey Wood. Mom was born in Yorkshire, England on June 29, 1924. Mom and Dad were married in Yorkshire, England on August 11, 1945 and she immigrated to Canada as a War Bride in 1946. Mom and Dad lived on a farm near Minto, Manitoba until Dad was diagnosed with MS in 1964 the family then moved to Souris. She was a very skilled seamstress, creating beautiful wedding gowns for her daughters and many others. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg and the Souris Personal Care Home who was very compassionate and caring of our dear Mom. Love, gratitude and thanks to all of you. A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery Souris, Manitoba with Reverend Mark Murray officiating followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments at the Souris Legion Club Room.
