BROWNELL: Melrose Elizabeth Brownell (Sinclair). It is with sadness, but wonderful memories, we announce the passing of our mother, Melrose Elizabeth on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon, MB. Melrose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and great-aunt. Melrose was born on December 30, 1927 in Wellwood, MB. She was the second daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Sinclair. She grew up in the Wellwood district and received her education there. It was there that she met the love of her life, Arthur Brownell. They were married in 1945 and farmed in the area until they retired to Neepawa in 1994. Mom was a very gentle and compassionate person always putting family first. She loved teaching them and sharing with them her great love of nature. Endless hours were spent in her vegetable and flower gardens. We often teased Mom that she was making the flowers dizzy moving them around. Mom also found time to be involved with all her church and community activities. Mom and Dad retired from the farm in 1994, and moved to Neepawa. In 2010 she moved in with daughter Donna and son-in-law Jerry Andresen where she continued her gardening. Remaining to cherish forever Mom’s memory are her three daughters, Gail (Douglas) Kinney, Donna (Jerry) Andresen, Shereen (Bill) MacDonald, grandchildren, Garnet (Christina) Kinney, their children Cole and Catryn, Craig Kinney, and daughter Ryan, Brett (Krista) Kinney and daughter Melrose, grandchildren Krisa and Tyler Buchanan. Also left to mourn is sister Viola (Edward) Wilson and son Bradley (Michelle), children Alexina, Kaylee and Breanna, sister-in-law Harriet Pentland, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom will also be missed by friend William Buchanan. Melrose was predeceased by her Arthur in 1999, two infant sons, parents Samuel and Elizabeth Sinclair, and sister Rhoda Marwick. The funeral service was held on April 17, 2012 at the United Church in Neepawa with Rev. Mark Satterly officiating. Pallbearers were Garnet Kinney, Craig Kinney, Brett Kinney, Krisa Buchanan, Tyler Buchanan and Bradley Wilson. Soloist was Connie Chudley. White’s Funeral Home of Neepawa was in charge of arrangements. Interment followed in the Carberry Plains Cemetery. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.God saw you getting tired,When a cure was not to be,So He put His arms around you,And whispered “Come to Me”.You didn’t deserve what you went through,So He gave you rest.God’s garden must be beautiful,He only takes the best.So when he saw you sleeping,So peacefully and free from pain,We could not wish you back to suffer that again.
