SCOTT: Margaret (Peggie) Welsh Scott, July 29, 1919 - April 14, 2012, passed away peacefully at the age of 92, in the Assiniboine Centre, Brandon. Peggie was born in Galashiels, Scotland, to Peter and Agnes, living there until she moved to Edinburgh to study nursing. She graduated from Edinburgh City Hospital in 1940 and from the Royal Infirmary in 1943. Between 1943 and 1945 Peggie was a nursing sister in the Royal Air Force and during this time met James Scott (Jim), a young ophthalmic surgeon whom she married in Aldershot, England on December 11,1944. After the war they lived and worked in Edinburgh and had two daughters, Anne and Norma. In 1954 the family immigrated to Canada and settled in Brandon, Manitoba, where Jim continued to practice his speciality until his death in January, 1989. They built their home at 28th Street and Princess Avenue and Peggie lived there until she moved to Riverheights Terrace in 2006, enjoying her time there thoroughly. Peggie had a busy life, raising her children, helping Jim at hisoffice, and serving on various committees and groups including the V.O.N. and Y.M.C.A. She became a keen golfer and curler, but also enjoyed a game of bridge, traveling and her many friends. Peggie is survived by her daughters Anne (Brian) McCrindle of Johannesburg, South Africa and Norma (Brian) Hodgson of Pincher Creek, Alberta; also by her grandchildren Dr. David Kouvarellis (Amanda and great granddaughter Amy) of Manchester, England; Michael Kouvarellis of Vancouver B.C.; and Dr. Alison Kouvarellis of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Also Peggy (Duncan) English of Salt Springs, N.S.; Murray Hodgson of Banff, Alberta and Peter Hodgson of Pincher Creek, Alberta. A memorial gathering is to be planned for later in the year.
