ROBINSON: Frank William Robinson, October 20, 1926 - April 13, 2012. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frankie Robinson on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the age of 85, at the Davidson Memorial Health Centre, in Cartwright, MB. Frankie was born on October 20, 1926 in Cartwright to Elgin (Tip) & Rosina Robinson and after some difficult circumstances , his mother was hospitalized and he was put in foster care. Unfortunately for Frankie, life didn't improve until one day when Jack Pawich came to town with a load of grain and Frank, who hung around the elevator a lot, asked if he could help him shovel, a job he loved even into his later years. That night after enjoying a typical threshing gang meal at Jack's parents, John & Caroline Pawich, he cried, not wanting to return to town. This scenario was repeated the next day, so John went to town and got his things. When John & Caroline moved to town, Jack and wife Eileen took over the farm and the care of Frank. He was with the Pawich family for 70 years up until his stroke shortly after his 84th birthday in 2010. Since then his life was confined to a wheelchair, unable to enjoy life in the manner he was accustomed to. After a short stay in Pilot Mound, he moved to the Davidson Memorial Health Centre in Cartwright in January 2012 where he was surrounded by familiar faces of friends and staff. Frankie loved cats, rabbits and little kids. He had a passion for cutting wood and making kindling which he often sold to family and friends. He rode his bike into his 80's along with swimming at Badger Creek, something he thoroughly enjoyed. His last year or so on the farm found him snoozing in front of the woodstove in the shed with a cat on his knee. He outlived both of his Pawich "moms", which was something that really saddened him. He was a lovable soul who always enjoyed getting a card with a loonie in and affectionate teasing. He was a gift to us and inspired up with his strong work ethic, his countless sayings and his zest for life. We will miss him more than one can ever imagine because he touched the hearts of so many."You can shed tears because he is gone or you can smile because he has lived"Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cartwright & Area Foundation (Davidson Memorial Health Care Fund.) Box 396 Cartwright MB, R0K 0L0. A celebration of Frankie's life will be held in Cartwright at the United Church on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
