SMITH: Brenda Lee Smith of Winnipeg, MB passed away on April 26, 2012 at Minnedosa, MB at the age of 53 years. Brenda was born July 14, 1958 in Carberry, MB. She moved to Killarney, MB in 1961, with her family, from Brandon. She graduated from Killarney Collegiate in 1975. Brenda gained her initial work experience at the Killarney library and later worked in the library at the U of M in Winnipeg. She worked for Revenue Canada and then for Human Resources Canada, in both Brandon and Winnipeg. Growing up Brenda enjoyed riding her horse Kip and travelling to country fairs with her grandparents. Her hobbies included reading, going to yard sales in search of collectibles and antique dishes. Brenda was a loving aunt who enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful and loving mother to her daughter Mackenzie. She was predeceased by her grandparents Marjorie and Watson Smith, Elena and Paul Gronback. Left to cherish her memory, her daughter Mackenzie Laurel Smith; parents Malcolm and Lyla Smith; bothers Steven (Adele) Smith, Terrence (Cora) Smith; sisters Karen (Pierre) Gobeil, Patricia (Danny) Hoppe; also four nieces, five nephews, extended family and friends. A candle lighting service of remembrance was held on May 1, 2012 in the McKenzie United Church, Portage la Prairie with Rev. Natasha Pearen officiating. Interment took place in the Carberry Plains Cemetery, Carberry, MB. Donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Minnedosa Funeral Service in care of arrangements.
