COMMER: Julie Commer found her peace on June 4, 2012 at her home at Fairview Personal Care Home. Julie was born November 14, 1921 in Brandon, MB to Annie and Andrew Kopochinski. Julie was educated at Fleming School and Earl Oxford School where she quickly made several close friends. While on walks in her neighbourhood, Julie caught the eye of a special man, whom she would go onto marry. On January 25, 1945, Julie married her true love, Felix (Hap). Hap and Julie enjoyed many activities together including bowling, card parties, travelling, and dancing. Julie loved nothing more than getting dressed up to go dancing or just a night out on the town. Julie often spoke of her time working at Perth's Cleaners, along with doing housekeeping duties for family and friends. Her strong attention to detail was shown in her immaculate house, even with her five rambunctious children running through, along with their equally rowdy friends. Everyone was welcome at the Commer home. As Julie's children grew older, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was always a good time at Grandma's house, whether it was playing with toys in her basement or outside, helping her in the garden, watering her peonies, listening to her records, helping her bake, playing Chinese Checkers and cards, or just sitting down to visit. Each of her grandchildren knew and loved the words to "You are My Sunshine" as she frequently sang it to each one of them. "Grandma always made you feel she had been waiting to see just you all day and now the day was complete" (Marcy DeMaree). Everyone knew when going to visit Julie, to go hungry. As soon as you arrived, there would be plates of cheezies, candy, cookies, cheese, crackers, and pickles. And of course, it was all "good for you"! Julie was loved by many family and friends. To everyone she met, she was described as the "sweet" lady, as well as the lady who looked 20 years younger than her real age. Julie goes on to meet again her parents Annie and Andrew; brothers John and Joe; and sister Mary Grandis. Sisters Jean Mazier, Helen Cornett, and Rose Kozoriz will remember all the great and loving times. Her unconditional love will live on through daughters Carol (Larry)Grudinski, Sandy Commer, Mary-Ann (Doug) Baron; sons Richard (Marg) and Tom (Darlene). Grandchildren who adored and loved her are Stacey Commer, Michelle (Jason) Lloyd, Carrie Baron, Jennifer Baron, Geoff (Teresa Keach) Grudinski, Angela (Shaun) Cameron, Belinda (Scott Carpenter) Commer, and Tony (Ashley) Commer. A special place in her heart was held for her great-grandchildren, McKenna and Jacy Lloyd, Bree-Anna and Nathan Henderson, Riley Cameron, Andrew Grudinski, and Aiden Commer. Several nieces and nephews will also miss their Aunt Julie. Prayers were said at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, June 7, 2012 led by Deacon John MacKenzie. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, June 8, 2012 also at the Church with Rev. Fr. James Ahaneku celebrant. Committal followed at the Brandon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Scott Carpenter, Shaun Cameron, Dan Mazier, David Mazier, Les Loewen, and Dave Sukaroff.
