Harvey was born in 1937 in Creelman Saskatchewan. In 1956 he and Maureen married and moved to Bissett, MB where he worked in the assay office before beginning his apprenticeship in Stationary engineering. He completed his 3rd class papers and was always well respected by his co-workers. Over the years his work took him to Lynn Lake, Winnipeg, Belleview and Virden. He was clerk of the works at the new Virden Hospital and oversaw installing the water lines at Pipestone, Winnipeg Beach and other small villages in the Interlake area. He made many friends in the mines, and overseeing these various projects. While in Lynn Lake he started his own plumbing and heating business. He had a strong work ethic, and took pride and pleasure in doing it well. In his last years before retirement, he worked as head custodian of Virden Collegiate and found great joy in the staff and students. Harvey was a man that could make or build anything. He enjoyed many hours helping family with renovations and was especially proud of the house that he and Maureen worked together on in Virden. He enjoyed dancing, gardening, baseball, hockey and fishing. He spent many hours fishing in Lynn Lake, Thompson and on Lake Winnipeg. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember his sense of humour and his teasing. Harvey had a beautiful singing voice and the songs and hymns he whistled or sang as he walked around the yard or while working will be remembered fondly by his family. His family would like to thank Dr. Tan at the Health Sciences Hospital and Dr. Fitzgerald at Virden Hospital for their compassion and care. We would also like to thank the home care co-ordinators and workers for their support and quick response. Memorial service was held at Virden United Church, 286 Nelson Street West on Friday June 29th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. God has not promised skies ever blueFlower strewn pathways all our lives through. But God has promised strength for the day rest for the weary, light for the way.
