KOKORUDZ: Milton Kokorudz, beloved husband of the late Helen Kokorudz of Brandon, passed away at Valleyview Care Home in the city on Friday, July 6, 2012. Milton was born at Oakburn, Manitoba on November 16, 1923, one of five children born to Mike and Rose Kokorudz. In his younger years he helped on the family farm. He met Helen Wozney, his future wife, when she was teaching at Rogers School #1267. Milton and Helen were married in Rossburn, Manitoba on October 29, 1952. They continued to contribute to the family farm for a couple of years. Looking to a different future they operated a store for the Hudson Bay Company in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Having saved some money they bought a farm and moved to Fisher Branch, Manitoba in pursuit of a farming career only again to be drawn away from the farming sector. At this time they moved to Brandon, Manitoba where Milton was a night clerk at the Crystal Hotel and Helen worked in a convenience store. They eventually partnered and together managed a grocery store until their retirement. Milton and Helen took great pride in their yard and garden. They belonged to the Brandon Horticultural Society. Their yard and garden won numerous prizes and one year their yard won Best Garden in the city. Helen predeceased Milton on December 7, 2011. He is survived by his brother Stanley (Verna) of Brandon, Manitoba; two nieces and one nephew. A sister-in-law Hannah Sherman also survives. Milton was also predeceased by his parents, Mike and Rose Kokorudz; sister Mary and two brothers, Steve and Dmytro. Cremation has taken place. The Funeral Ceremony for Milton and Helen will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk will officiate. Cantor will be Mr. Tony Yuriy. Interment will follow at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.
