CARLISLE: Corrine Roberta Carlisle (nee Kubske) November 3, 1941 – July 2, 2012. Corrine passed away peacefully after her courageous battle with cancer on Monday July 2, 2012 in Souris, MB at the age of 70 years. Corrine was born on November 3, 1941 on the family farm near Minitonas, Manitoba to Lena ane Julius Kubske. While living in Winnipeg and working at Safeway, Corrine met and married Peter Carlisle in May of 1966. The Carlisles moved to Portage la Prairie in September of 1968 to take over the family farm after the death of Peter’s father, Frank. During that time three sons were born at Portage General Hospital: Jeffery, in June of 1969, and the twins Terry and Todd in August of l97I. In November 1973, the family moved to Souris, MB, Peter’s hometown. Corrine started a flower shop in the basement of their home on Water Street, in November 1976. ‘Corrine’s Flowers’ quickly outgrew the space, and the business moved uptown to the basement of Kirkup Agencies, then later to the frontage of Sanderson Printing. Peter passed away on July 1, 1989. Corrine sold the Flower Shop in August of the same year, she then decided to return to Safeway in Brandon as a florist and cashier in March of 1990 until her retirement there in early 2007. Corrine's caring and fun-loving nature was instrumental in guiding her children and grandchildren to a legacy of living for the moment and appreciating all God's creations. She especially loved watching, feeding and listening to the birds in her yard and spending as much time as possible with family and friends. While her spirit lives on she will be greatly missed by her sons Jeff (Janine) Carlisle, Terry Carlisle, Todd (Krista Moffatt) Carlisle, grandchildren Jaelyn and Jace Carlisle, sister Elsie Bedu and numerous nieces and nephews.Corrine was predeceased by her husband, Peter Carlisle, her parents, Julius & Lena Kubske, sister and brother-in-law Evelyn & Wayne Moran, Mother-in- law and Father-in-law Dorothy & Frank Carlisle, brother-in-law, Archie Bedu. Funeral Service was held on July 7, 2012 at St. Paul's United Church, Souris, MB with Rev. Harvey Hurren officiating. Interment at Souris and Glenwood Cemetery. In memory of Corrine donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or to the Town of Souris Beautification fund. Arrangements were entrusted to Kowalchuk's Funeral Home, Souris, MB. Thank you to friends and family for the flowers, food, cards, kind words and other gifts; they were greatly appreciated. Thank you to the Legion Ladies Auxilary for the wonderful lunch.
