McWILLIAMS: Larry Wayne McWilliams. November 26, 1937 – August 29, 2012. On Wednesday, August 29, 2012 Larry Wayne McWilliams passed away at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan after a short illness at age 74. He was born on November 26, 1937 in Belmont, Manitoba. In 1960, he met his wife of 51 years, Geraldine, in Dryden, Ontario and they were married on October 7, 1961 at Eastend, Saskatchewan. Larry began his career with the Bank of Montreal in Belmont, Manitoba. He was transferred to many locations in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Manitoba such as Carnduff, Estevan, Melville, Eastend, Regina, Yorkton, Prince Albert, Dryden, Winnipeg, St. Lazare, Gladstone and Brandon. His last transfer was to Saskatoon where he worked as Area Manager for 7 years until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and golfing over the years. Many hours were spent golfing at the Riverside Golf Club with Geraldine and friends. He especially cherished the fishing excursions up north where he camped with his sons Curtis and Darin, and making memories at the cottage at Pelican Lake, Manitoba. Larry played many years of competitive hockey, baseball and curling. In June 2009 he was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame for his years spent with the St. Lazare Athletics. He was known as a “Mr. Fix-it” as his greatest pleasure was helping others with any type of problem. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he would soon learn how. He will always be remembered for his quick wit for reciting verses from poems and songs and his story telling of humorous tales of his younger years. He had a weakness for sweets and a cup of tea any time of day. Larry was predeceased by his father and mother, Reginald and Olive McWilliams and his brother, Gordon McWilliams. He is survived by his wife Geraldine, his sons Curtis (Evelyne), Darin (Michelle), granddaughters Amy, Zoe and Nevada, and grandson Kevin. An informal service will be held at a later date at the Belmont Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 101, 440-2nd Avenue N., Saskatoon, SK.
