COLEMAN-KING: Margaret passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at her residence, Fairview Home. She was born on February 9, 1922 in the R.M. of Whitehead. She was the eldest of fourteen children born to John and Jane McKinnon. Much was expected of Margaret from a young age and she beganserving others early in life. She married Jack Coleman in 1943 and they began farming together. First in the Wawanesa area, then moving to Hilton and in 1957, they moved to the Alexander area where they remained until they retired from farming. Margaret began working at Fairview Nursing Home in the late 50's and continued working until retiring in 1972. During that time she gained popularity with the residents by organizing card games, dances and having a quilt available for whoever wanted to add a stitch of their own. Margaret had the gift of generosity. If she had it and thought you needed it, or even wanted it, she would go without to ensure you didn't. She loved to make meals and bake treats for family and friends and has created countless beautiful quilts that were all given as gifts. After Jack passedaway in 1992, Margaret remained in Souris for a few years and then moved to Brandon, where she became active in the Whiteheads Seniors group and later with the Salvation Army church. Margaret married Len King in 2000. He passed away the next year. Margaret is survived by three children, Jane Shaw, Ann (Ken) Bohn and Terry (Sandra) Coleman as well as seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings: Henrietta Labey, Norman, Josie (Dominic) Maletta, Frank (Ruth), Alma (Bill) Beare, Harvey, Wayne (Linda), and Marie (Barry) Pearce. She was predeceased by her parents; son-in-law Clarence; brothers Neil, Leslie, Jack, Levi and Hugh and also her great grandson Cole. Margaret touched many lives with her serving nature. She will be missed by many and we will never be the same for having known her. A family graveside service will be held at the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery, Souris, MB on Saturday, September 29, 2012 (today) at 10:30 a.m. Rae Anne Coleman urnbearer. A Memorial Service will follow at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, at 2:00 p.m. with Capt. Rhonda Smith of The Salvation Army officiating.
