BELL: Earl James Bell, September 8 1947-October 6, 2012. On Saturday October 6, 2012 Earl Bell at the age of 89, peacefully drew his last breath and joined his soul mate Mabel for one last dance. Earl will be missed by his family of three daughters: Maureen (Glenn) Johnson of Killarney, Wendy (Ken) Clyne of Boissevain and Leslie (Shayne) Udell of Winnipeg. Also 4 grandchildren: Bill (Shawna) Johnson of Kamloops, Erin (Bob) Parker of Calgary, Wayne (Krista) Clyne of Boissevain and Patti (Curtis) Craven of Winnipeg. Great grandchildren share happy memories of him, Tori and Chloe Johnson, Morgan Parker, Camryn, Tanner and Austin Clyne, Alexa, Kaleigh and Jenna Craven. He was predeceased by his wife Mabel of 62 years, parents Hamilton and Ethel Bell, brother Harold, sister Kathleen and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in- law. Born and raised in Wawanesa, Earl joined the Navy in 1943 and went off to war. He returned to Wawanesa in 1945, completing his education and began working for Manitoba Telephone System. It was there were he met and fell in love with Mabel. They were married in August 6 1947 and shortly after Earl, Mabel and Maureen moved to Strathclair. While they were living there, their second daughter Wendy was born and in 1956 they moved to Killarney. A third daughter, Leslie arrived and the household was complete. Earl loved his hockey and when he was no longer able to play he coached and refereed for many years. He was an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts, the Royal Canadian Legion in Killarney, Congregate Meals and Meals on Wheels. Earl continued to work for MTS until his retirement in 1983. Living in their house on the lake was a perfect retirement home. He loved to work in his yard and putter around the house. Many quiet days were spent sitting on their deck admiring the view. Mabel and Earl took several vacations with Mabels sisters and their husbands and always treasured their company. Earl will be remembered for his love of music and dance, his laughter and ability to meet and talk to anyone who would stop. He was an honest, hard working man who asked nothing in return except to be respected. After Mables death Earl moved into Westview Lodge in Boissevain. He met new people and renewed old acquaintances. In July 2012 he moved into Bayside Personal Care Home in Killarney were he remained until his death. Earls family would like to thank Drs Nell and Pio, the staff of Trilake Health Center, Bayside Personal Care, Westview Lodge and Boissevain Health Center for their care and concern over the last 9 months. Earl took a long and difficult road but finally reached his destination. We will miss you. Killarney & Boissevain Funeral Home.
