WOLOSHEN: After a lengthy battle with cancer, fought with dignity and courage, Allan Clifford Woloshen, passed away at the Assiniboine Health Centre on Monday, October 8, 2012. Born January 8, 1939 in Neepawa, Manitoba, where he also attended school. Allan was involved with the Cadets - 12th MB Dragoons then later served in the Army with the Engineers for 10 years. Working in shoe repair from the age of fifteen it was only natural that Allan pursue a career in this line of work. After release from the Army, he owned & operated shoe repair shop in Emerson, called Pembina Valley Shoe Repair. From the early 80s, Allan owned and operated the Shoe Maker's Shop on Seventh Street in Brandon MB. He became well-known in Brandon & surrounding areas for his shoe and leather repair work. He will be remembered for his colorful personality and walking his two Rottweiler's. Allan belonged to the Brandon Game and Fish Association as well as the N.F.A. In addition, he enjoyed restoring old cars, growing cacti, loved guns, and his dogs! Allan is survived by his Rottweiler, Buddy, daughterAngie Sumka; grandchildren Shannon Benevides and Mitchell Sumka; great-grandchildren Mateo and Lucas Benevides; brother Albert (Pat) Woloshen; nephews Dean and Darcy Woloshen; great nieces Chelsea and Charlene; great-nephew Jake, many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Eileen and William and great granddaughter Adriana Benevides. The Funeral Service will take place at Memories Chapel on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Shannon McCarthy of Central United Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Palliative Care, Westman Hospice, Jeff & Denise, Murray & Shelly, Corny & Carol, Ben & Ellie, and Vince for their care and friendship to Allan as well as to Pawsitive Experience for taking care of Buddy.
