YOUNG: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father Gerald Young. Gerry was born in Wallasey, Cheshire, England. He travelled the world on merchant ships and decided Canada was the best place to raise his family and they immigrated to Brandon, Manitoba in 1960. A move to Calgary was made in 1990 and finally to Olds in 2005. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 62 years Edwina of Olds; son Gerald (Donna) of Brandon, MB; daughter Edwina (Bob) Ross of Olds; son Edwin (Marie Freeman) of Brandon, MB; grandchildren Tracy (Bryce Ridgen), Scott Young, Megan Ross, Morgan and Colton Young and great-granddaughter Lucy Ridgen. He also leaves numerous family in England. Gerry was predeceased by his parents and one brother in England. In keeping with Gerald’s wishes a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Horizon School, Olds or Special Olympics, Olds.
